A select round-up of morning news relating to Manchester United…
Manchester United winger Nani believes Old Trafford is not the fortress it once was…but hopes that will change in the months ahead.
In quotes published by the Daily Star, the Portuguese international said, “It looks like teams are more confident when they come here to play against us.
“But I’m sure we will change that because, at the moment, we are playing without all our confidence.”
Despite continuing to be linked with a move away from the club, Nani claimed he was happy under David Moyes. And the rumours that his new contract was simply a way to get the best price for him in the future appeared unlikely when he said, “The manager has been fantastic with me.
“The coaches are trying to get my confidence higher to show all the qualities I have got. They are trying to get me back to my best level.”
At his peak, he is a force to be reckoned with. Unfortunately he has not been anywhere close to that peak for some time.
This year has been something of a comedown for the former Crystal Palace man. From winning his first England cap and securing a move to United, he is now a rarely-seen reserve. But a move is sure to reinvigorate a player who will still have ambitions of making the World Cup squad.
