Five possible January transfer targets for Fulham

Fulham Dempsey Near Post

Martin Jol looks to be needing reinforcements in January to keep the club in the Premier League, but who can he bring to Craven Cottage?

With a new man in charge in the boardroom, the pressure is on Martin Jol as manager to make sure the West London outfit remain in the top flight.

11 games in and the Cottagers occupy the final relegation spot, somewhere Shahid Khan doesn't want to be for long and that's one reason why former Manchester United coach Rene Meulensteen has been brought to the club.

So who else will be moving to the Cottage in the new year? Here are some possible signings.

Clint Dempsey (Seattle Sounders) - He's only been back in America since the summer after leaving Tottenham but is set for a loan move back to England in January. Could he be reunited with the club that brought him to the country in the first place?

Alex Pearce (Reading)- Still young at 25, the Republic of Ireland international is a superb centre-half who's playing a big part in the Championship club's push for promotion back to the Premier League. Would be a great addition to the squad and wouldn't cost a huge amount.

Kyle Naughton (Tottenham) - The right-back is reportedly getting fed up of being second choice to Kyle Walker and may have to move on to further his career. A move to another London side would make sense and Fulham would be a good fit.

Jack Cork (Southampton) - Seemingly out of favour on the south coast, the former Chelsea youngster will probably be looking for a new club in 2014. Fulham should be looking for a young centre midfielder to play alongside older, experienced players like Scott Parker and Steve Sidwell and Cork would be a fantastic acquisition.

Wilfried Zaha (Manchester United) - Meulensteen joining the club and his relationship with United may be a factor in bringing the winger to the Cottage on loan. The youngster is not a part of David Moyes' plans for this season and to continue his development he needs to be playing. Fulham would be a great place to do that.
