Tottenham Loan Update: Spain under-21 midfielder making strides

A brief look at the progress of Tottenham players serving their time with other clubs

Iago Falque has been finding his feet in the Rayo Vallecano first team after an injury interrupted start and has started the last 5 games.

The attacking midfielder is still without a goal or an assist for the La Liga side but has been improving considerably with his performances, and if he keeps playing well then it stands to reason it will eventually come good for the Spanish under-21 midfielder.

In his last game, Rayo Vallecano recorded a very good away win against Celta Vigo. Falque played on the left of an attacking three, getting booked 3 minutes before he was substituted for Adrian Embarba in the 69th minute. The performance was fairly lively and managed to get a shot on goal, but couldn’t crack that first goal.

Jake Livermore played the full 90 minutes for Hull as their side went down unimpressively to Southampton 4-1.

The England international did create the solitary goal, which Yannick Sagbo put away but it wasn’t enough to stop the southern coast side storming to victory.

In the Championship, Derby County on loan duo saw a 3-0 win over Sheffield Wednesday.

Simon Dawkins started the game on the right wing, being ear-marked as one of the best players for the Rams on their impressive win. Unfortunately young right back Adam Smith was left on the bench as an unused sub, and has found first team chances hard to come by since Liverpool’s Andre Wisdom was brought in to play right back.

Tom Carroll remains injury worry for Queens Park Rangers, but has been enjoying a very fruitful loan spell at the Championship club. Benoit Assou-Ekotto started at left back as the former Premier League sides went head to head at the Madejski stadium, the game looked to be heading for a home win before experienced mouth piece Joey Barton scored a stunning free-kick to save a point for the title favourites.

Bogani Khumalo Caused a penalty which Chris O’Grady missed as Barnsley and Doncaster drew 0-0 in a relegation 6-pointer. The 26-year-old has been a regular for Doncaster this season, and has been in impressive form, at 26 it is unlikely that he will return to White Hart Lane, but he may earn himself a contract at Doncaster.

Elsewhere last week the Tottenham players at Swindon had a disappointing time as they crashed out of the FA Cup in the first round to Macclesfield Town, who stormed the game 4-0.
