Manchester United: Official top 3 Premier League players so far for 2013-14

Wayne Rooney Volley

Van Persie and his sidekick both feature, but in which order?

David Moyes will be feeling much more secure in his role during this international break than he did during the October break. A slow start to the season by the Premier League champions almost seems like a distant memory following the recent win over Arsenal. Just five points off top spot now, it will be interesting to see if United can kick on and really get back amongst the mix by Christmas.

Top 3 players so far – Man United

Wayne Rooney

The England striker can have every reason to feel slightly aggrieved if the "sidekick" jibe from Moyes is anything more than a slip of the tongue. Rooney has been by far the strongest and most consistant player in United's line up recently, and led by example at times against Arsenal. EA Sports have recognised such strong performances and have allocated him the highest index score at Old Trafford.

Goals 5, App 10, Mins 835, Average index score 27, Home index score 178, Average home index 30, Away 95, Average away index 24, Overall index score 273

Robin van Persie

Van Persie has had a strong start to the season, but he is a victim of his own success when you compare such performances to last year. Then, everything he touched turned to gold. To be fair to the Dutchman, he has been carrying some niggling injuries recently, and fans will just be hoping to a see fully fit Van Persie alongside a rejuvenated Rooney.

Goals 7, App 10, Mins 822, Average index score 23, Home index score 126, Average home index 21, Away 107, Average away index 27, Overall index score 233

Patrice Evra

Nobody will be more determined to hang on to his first team place than Patrice Evra, especially in the face of constant speculation about incoming rivals for the left back spot. The Frenchman has responded with strong performances according to EA Sports, who see him as the third highest scoring United player. Evra will have to keep up his form to dissuade another Baines or Coentrao move in January.

Goals 0, App 10, Mins 900, Average index score 16, Home index score 74,Average home index 15, Away 84, Average away index 17, Overall index score 158
