Arsenal star Ozil will NOT play against England as Low rests three key men

Ozil Arsenal 6

Mesut Ozil will not get the chance to do damage to England once again, after Jogi Low decided to allow him the night off after suffering with the flu.

England were defeated by Chile last night, and deservedly so after everyone from the goalkeeper to the superstar that is Alexis Sanchez seemed to be superior technically to the England players on show.

Apart from perhaps the performance of Adam Lallana this was certainly a game to forget for an experimental England side - for whom plenty of big names will return for the friendly against Germany on Tuesday.

And thank god - because if England play like they did against Chile the Germans will absolutely maul us!

But there is some good news coming out of the German camp this morning - as Jogi Low has omitted three key players from his team.

Bayern Munich stars Manuel Neuer and Philip Lahm have been allowed to return to Bavaria after the Italy game last night - and likely begin preparations for the crunch tie with Borussia Dortmund next weekend.

The other player, well he will likely be on his way back to London soon anyway, but not with the German team.

It has been confirmed in the German media that Mesut Ozil did not board the plane - and will not play against England on Tuesday night.

The Arsenal playmaker, who has been struggling with the flu, has been given the game off - after featuring for half an hour against Italy last night.

This will likely disappoint Ozil - who would have liked getting stuck into some of his club mates such as Jack Wilshere at Wembley - but will come as delightful news for Arsene Wenger.

The Arsenal boss knows all too well how often players return from the international break injured - and with Wilshere also set to miss most the game he might be able to watch it with his eyes open.

With Laurent Koscielny not playing against Ukraine on Tuesday and Tomas Rosicky coming through unscathed against Canada - things have gone pretty well for Wenger so far.

Now he must hope that good fortune continues - although, Per Mertesacker is definitely playing after Low confirmed he has recovered from the flu.

So perhaps don’t relax just yet Wenger…
