After starring for Nigeria in the recent under-17 World Cup, Kelechi Iheanacho suddenly found himself linked with the great and the good of the game.
The 17-year-old was crowned the tournament’s best player, as six goals and seven assists helped his country to the trophy.
But the latest stories suggest the English trio are set to be disappointed, with Iheanacho instead set to move to FC Porto.
Portugese newspaper A Bola has this morning reported that the player has agreed to join Porto, and that the rumours of considerable interest from the Premier League may have sped up the deal.
The report continues that an initial offer of €250,000 has been raised given the player’s emergence, and that the deal will be confirmed in the coming days.
Should the report be true, it may be considered a shock with the list of potential suitors growing longer by the day.
And yet Porto has a history of developing young players, and most importantly giving them a chance in the first-team regardless of their age.
