£15m Southampton star suffers ‘serious allergic reaction’ on international duty

Pablo Daniel Osvaldo just cannot buy luck at the moment, after a nasty reaction playing against Germany last night.

While Southampton had two debutants on show for England last night, with mixed results, one other Saints player was facing up against Germany from the start in the form of summer signing Pablo Dani Osvaldo.

‘Dani’ as he has come to be known since his move to the South Coast may still be waiting to really hit the gas at the club since his £15 million transfer from AS Roma - but he remains a regular with the Azzurri and played for his nation in the San Siro last night.

The game ended 1-1 between these two international powerhouses of football but Osvaldo did not last the game, for rather bizarre circumstances.

He came off in the 53rd minute and soon went down the tunnel for treatment - for what is being called a ‘serious allergic reaction’ by the Italian medical staff.

Professor Enrico Castellacci explained:

“Going off the field, Osvaldo had a pretty strong allergic reaction, so he needed an anti-histamine injection.’’

Now Southampton fans needn’t worry. Rickie Lambert has picked up an injury on international duty while Adam Lallana hyper-extended his hip against Chile last night - so news of another injury would obviously cause reason for concern.

However it is claimed the matter is now resolved, however tests must be carried out, as right now it remains unclear what he was allergic too - although a theory it is something that he came into contact with at half-time has now gained momentum:

“Now his condition has stabilised and there’s nothing to worry about. It’ll be wise for him to have some tests and find out what it is he’s allergic to...We sent him into the locker room for treatment. He told me he had a couple of previous incidents in the past, so we advised him to carry cortisone in his pocket at all times and to have tests when he gets back to England.”

Or like Mario Balotelli, Lleyton Hewitt or many other sports stars - he might be allergic to a certain type of grass.
