Spurs face fight with Arsenal for Auxerre star, Adebayor has January route out of Tottenham

A round up of the key news stories about Tottenham Hotspur this morning.

Tottenham Hotspur will face reported interest from Arsenal for Auxerre forward Paul-Georges Ntep.

Ntep has an exciting reputation in Belgian football having scored three goals in eight matches for his side.

Tottenham will have to act quickly because Le10Sport suggests Arsenal have already made official contact with Auxerre.

In terms of players who could be leaving White Hart Lane, Emmanuel Adebayor could be heading off to Turkey.

Besiktas are apparently keen on taking the forward on loan, as they seek a striker similar to former Chelsea star Didier Drogba.

“We were interested in Adebayor in August. The club will target Adebayor again in January but it's difficult to sign such marketable players,” said Besiktas vice-president Ahmet Cebi.

Spurs defender Jan Vertonghen has hit out at reports he’s unhappy over his current role in the side.

Speculation started to grow after the Belgian defender questioned why he was being used at left-back as opposed to centre back.

“There are always words taken out of context and interpreted differently in the press. I am happy with my role at left-back,” he told the London Evening Standard.
