VIDEO: 'Jaw-dropping' Arsenal target scores hat-trick for France under-21s

Long term Arsenal target Florian Thauvin scored a hat-trick as France destroyed Armenia 6-0.

The impressive Marseille midfielder has been in fine form for both club and country recently and carried on his form in the latest European Under-21 Football Championship qualification match.

The highly impressive midfielder has been enjoying a brilliantly run of form which has seen him star in Marseille’s first team, and now will be looking as an outside contender for the France team in the World Cup, if they beat Ukraine in the play-off that is.

The midfielder won the prestigious young player of the year over the likes of Marco Verratti and Lucas Digne last season, and looks set to have a bright future and has been compared to Bayern Munich legend Franck Ribery.

Unfortunately, for both ability and attitude.

Over the summer he left his former club Lille in a sour transfer spell that saw him eventually move to Marseille for €15 million. The young midfielder went from wowing fans in the under-20 World Cup to playing awkward and racked up fines for missing training, and repeatedly banging down the door asking to leave.

The move in the end seems to have been positive for the player, but the player will no doubt remain on Arsene Wenger’s radar as he looks at future possible transfers.

The game against Armenia emphasised the strength of the French under-21s as they look to get back within the world’s top nations.

Monaco’s €5 million striker opened the scoring, getting onto the end of an exquisite through ball from Thauvin and slotting it past the keeper with ease.

Lens defender Loick Landre got onto the end of a Thauvin corner to put the French side 2-0, just before Thauvin got onto the score sheet for the first time with an exquisitely hit free kick.

The Marseille man was at it again, this time scoring with his head from point blank range as France went 4-0 up and out of sight, and when France were given a penalty the confident midfielder completed his hat-trick.

19-year-old Axuerre striker Sebastien Haller smashed in an incredible 6th goal that crowned off a brilliant for the performance for the French.
