Real Madrid star is a big admirer of his former Manchester United team-mate.
Ronaldo played an infamous part in Wayne Rooney’s sending off for England against Portugal in the 2006 World Cup, the forward winking at his team-mates after Rooney was dismissed for standing on Ricardo Carvalho.
Portugal, of course, went on to defeat England on penalties (again), and the return of both players to Old Trafford the following season was, to say the least, interesting – even if they did go on to both win the Champions League for United less than two years later.
And it seems that Ronaldo has been keeping close eye on Rooney’s career ever since – or at least, his hair. “He has his own style. But with his hair he looks much better,” said Ronaldo in an interview with Shortlist magazine. “He looks very good now. Before he was a little bit ugly, but now, with hair, he’s beautiful.”
Ronaldo is hoping to be included in tonight’s World Cup play-off clash against Sweden, as both sides look to seal their place in next summer’s tournament in Brazil.
But it seems that he was not too busy to present his Real Madrid team-mates with a rather unusual gift – pairs of pants from his new designer underwear range.
You certainly can’t help what Gareth Bale felt upon receiving the gift: “Bale was there and he said, ‘Yeah, looking good,” added Ronaldo. “He’s such a fantastic boy. Fabio Coentrao also mentioned that he liked them. Pepe actually put them on as soon as I gave them too him. He said: ‘You’ll have to send me more.’”
