Newcastle United man desperate for World Cup playoff glory

France international believes the Ukraine examination will be a significant two-legged chapter in his career.

'These are two big games,' said Loic Remy, one of the most efficient, on-form attackers in the Premier League this season, to the official website of his club - Newcastle United.

The striker, though, is not talking about any imminent domestic dust-ups, but the play-off encounters between France and Ukraine, to be competed this evening, Friday, in Ukraine, prior to the return leg on Tuesday, November 19.

'I am conscious that they are two big games for my international career and for the national team,' he added, knowing that any failure to obtain a positive aggregate result will see a notable omission when the World Cup group finals are drawn.

However, Remy - who has returned seven goals and one assist in nine league appearances for Newcastle this term - is confident that Les Bleus have the necessary quality to make the difference over the next half-week.

'We have a very good team and a lot of quality, with players like [Franck] Ribery, [Karim] Benzema and others. But if I have the chance to play and score for my team, and we make it to the World Cup.

'It could be very special.'
