France international Franck Ribery has revealed that his wife is so confident that he'll win the prize, that a space has already been made in their house.
Bayern Munich winger Franck Ribery has claimed that he is confident of winning this year’s Ballon d’Or award. The French midfielder is seen as one of the favourites for the annual FIFA prize, awarded to the best player in the calendar year.
'Under the fireplace in the living room. My wife has already prepared a place for it go, everything,' he told L’Equipe this week. 'I try not to think about it, but she is thinking about it a lot. At Bayern everyone believes that I will win.
'[If I am favourite] then it is for the what I have done in the field, what I have done to return to my best, to be professional every day and for the trophies that I have won.
'Before this year I was very good. Now I am the best.'
Ribery is in action this coming week with France in a bid to overcome Ukraine in a two-legged play-off for one of the remaining places at the World Cup next summer: 'I’m really at the top. I really think this is my year. This is why I hope that everything will be alright with the France team.
'I feel there is a lot of pressure on me. There are more and more cameras on me and more and more attention on what I do on the field. It is not obvious, but anyway, this pressure is something that I have always had. I try to play in the way I now how.'
