Mesut Ozil's recovery from illness is not so simple, report the German press.
Mesut Ozil has had quite a week, after playing at Old Trafford on Sunday, false pictures of him 'out nightclubbing' were published, when he was only going for a late night bite to eat.
The next day he was described as too ill to travel to join up with the German international squad, thanks to a virus - making the trip on Wednesday.
He has since flown onto Italy where the Germans face the Azzurri in a friendly repeat of the Euro 2012 semi-final they are determined win.
Jogi Low gave a fitness update before the trip where he said Ozil is 'doing better', and hoped for full participation in final practice.
However the Germans are doubtful over his likely participation, with German website Kicker reporting 'weakened Ozil trains in the Milan rain.'
Ozil completed the session in 'pouring' weather, but is still suffering from illness.
German coach Oliver Bierhoff said: "He has not got rid of this flu yet. I think that he does not have full use (vs Italy)."
Kicker believe that Ozil will play just the first 45 minutes in the friendly match against Italy, with Jogi Low not wanting to risk making him worse by asking him to play a full match, although he will of course be subject to fitness clearance prior to kick-off.
Ozil's Arsenal teammate Per Mertesacker is still in London with more 'inflamed' symptoms, but is hoping to join up with the German squad in time for the match with England.
Arsenal fans will just hope Ozil training in the pouring rain did not make him worse. It is obvious Ozil is not fully fit, and needs to rest, so Germany are being a little stubborn by demanding he features in the friendly.
Surely it would have been far better to let him recover with Mertesacker at home in London?
