What was missing: Gunner reveals in-house difference-maker (not Ozil)

Arsenal star has one of the reasons for the club's high-flying form…

Just why Arsenal's fortunes have shifted from a team chasing an elusive top four position to one in pole position for the Premier League title has oft been a subject of debate amongst printed and online scribes with factors ranging from the dual acquisitions of Mesut Ozil and Mathieu Flamini, to the continued development of stars Aaron Ramsey, Per Mertesacker and Olivier Giroud.

It turns out they were all wrong, as Jack Wilshere testifies on the club's official website earlier today, Thursday, that a burgeoning team spirit has only really been nurtured this calendar year but it has already yielded results.

'Our bond is massive,' he began, before adding that their extra-curricular gatherings have forged a strong team spirit that is evident on the field: 'We've been out a few times. We didn't do it for a couple of years but over the last six months we go out for team dinners and we meet up outside of football, which is good for the team.

'Sometimes you just want to get away from football, you want to sit down and talk about life, your family and things like that. We've been doing that this season and it's really showing on the pitch.

'We've done really well this season and towards the end of last season; I think the team spirit plays a massive part in that,' concluded the 21-year-old.
