Raheem Sterling has made nothing like the impact at Liverpool this season that he made last season.
The teenage winger has been confined to a handful of substitute appearances, with Brendan Rodgers seemingly unwilling to risk him too often as he looks to preserve the club’s great start to the Premier League.
Sterling needs to be playing regular football to continue his development into a much better winger, arguably more suited to play a big role in the Liverpool midfield as he hurtles towards his twenties.
A poll conducted by lfcpolls.com has shown that the overwhelming majority of Liverpool fans believe the youngster should move on loan to another club over the second half of the season.
The current 86.09% of fans who believe Sterling should move on are perfectly right for several reasons but the 13.91% against it also have decent ground.
Sterling has already said he wants to play regular football and he’s probably got an eye on the World Cup next year, hoping that Roy Hodgson will make a Sven-Goran Eriksson-Theo Walcott type decision in taking him to Brazil.
The people who don’t want him to leave also have a point because he’s an extremely talented young player and someone with that something special, which can turn a big game.
The striking feature of the way Brendan Rodgers handles Liverpool is that he’s always been honest and very open with his players, which makes a loan deal from January to May a formality if the Reds get some form of replacement in.
Sorry to the 13.91% but it’s difficult to see him staying put.
