RBC adds two to Healthcare Research group

RBC Capital Markets has announced the appointments of Randall Stanicky as Managing Director and lead analyst of RBC’s Specialty & Generic Pharmaceuticals research team, and David Francis as Managing Director and analyst covering Healthcare IT and Distribution Services.

Stanicky joins RBC with over 14 years market experience, most recently at Goldman Sachs and Canaccord Genuity where he also covered the Healthcare sector. Prior to that, he followed Healthcare stocks on the buyside at Citigroup Global Asset Management. He is based in New York.

Francis brings over 20 years experience in healthcare and technology banking and research, joining RBC from The JAAG Group, an independent research and advisory firm where he was Founder and Managing Partner. Prior to The JAAG Group, Francis was a Managing Director in healthcare research at Jefferies & Co. He is based in RBC's Nashville office.

'Healthcare is an extraordinarily vibrant and rapidly changing industry, in which new products and services in such sectors as biotechnology, specialty pharmaceuticals, medical technology and healthcare services present both difficult challenges and rich opportunities', said Marc Harris, Head of Global Research. 'These two hires will help our clients to stay informed in these evolving sectors, and underscores our commitment to being a leader in delivering timely and insightful investing strategies to our clients'.

The hires of Stanicky and Francis follow on the heels of other strategic hires that have been made to bolster RBC Capital Markets’ Global Research platform in recent months. Jonathan Golub joined the firm as Chief U.S. Market Strategist in September, along with Institutional Investor-ranked David Palmer and Nik Modi who joined as Managing Directors covering the food and restaurant sectors and tobacco, household products and beverages sectors respectively.

These hires were followed with the arrival of Institutional Investor-ranked Gary Bisbee, a Managing Director covering the business and educational services sector. Earlier in the year, RBC hired Mark Mahaney, Institutional Investor’s #1 ranked Internet analyst for the past five years, to lead its coverage of the Internet sector.

These hires bolster already the firm's strong healthcare coverage team, which includes Doug Miehm who was recently ranked as a first place TopGun analyst in the 2013 Brendan Wood International (BWI) Study of Institutional investors.
