Often the inspiration for early 1990s primary school children attempting to impress their playground chums with a 'Kanchelskis run', Andrei - a £650,000 import from Shakhtar Donetski in March, 1991 - spent just four seasons at Old Trafford but secured his status in Manchester United history and fan affection due to his dazzling dribbling and his 1:3 goal return from a wide position.
It perhaps helped Kanchelskis' status as an Old Trafford favourite that he did the famous number 7 shirt proud despite only wearing it on 25 occasions, however, considering that squad number is currently vacant, there is room in David Moyes' roster for an exciting, crowd-pleasing player to become it's next incumbent.
Enter Yevhen Konoplyanka, a £15m-rated winger from Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk, who has - according to the latest reports in Daily Star - attracting the attention of a number of Premier League teams including United, Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea.
The 24-year-old may well be one of the most sought-after players when the mid-season market opens for trading as the player - a fearless man-beating attacker with a direct style of play on the wing or a visionary playmaker with creative pass selections if deployed in the middle - is also apparently on the shortlists of transfer targets at European sides such as Borussia Dortmund, Bayer Leverkusen and Paris Saint Germain.
Considered to be the most promising player of his generation in his homeland, Konoplyanka will likely play a prominent role in Kyiv when Ukraine play France in the vital World Cup qualifying play-offs on Friday, ahead of the reverse fixture on Tuesday.
He has a transfermarkt.co.uk valuation of £13m-£15m.
