Manchester City latest: Players ‘shocked’ at Pellegrini’s decision; Reus snub revealed

All the latest news, views and transfer rumours from the Etihad…

As has long been suspected, Manchester City goalkeeper will not start for England against Chile tomorrow evening. Instead that honour will go to either John Ruddy or Fraser Forster.

Speaking in the build-up to the match, England coach Roy Hodgson said, “Joe Hart won’t be starting the game, but you will have to work out which of the other two will start.”

Despite sitting out tomorrow’s friendly, Hart is expected to feature against Germany next week.

From one frustrated player to another, with the Daily Star reporting that Pablo Zabaleta has been replaced as City’s vice-captain by Yaya Toure.

The report goes on to claim that Manuel Pellegrini’s decision has angered some of the players.  In fact that perennial quote-machine “club source” has been at it again, claiming, “Pablo is the ultimate professional. He is so influential on the pitch and in the dressing room that there was a sense of shock at that.”

And finally, the Daily Mail reports that City failed in a bid to sign Marco Reus from Borussia Dortmund, and that apparently spells bad news for Manchester United’s reported pursuit of the attacker.

Then again, if either club simply pays his £29.4million release-clause the German could well be on his way to the Premier League, unless a new contract is swiftly signed with Jurgen Klopp’s side.
