Raymond James has announced that Jim Bunn has been appointed co-head of the firm’s Investment Banking practice effective 1st January 2014.

Bunn currently serves as co-head of the firm’s Technology Services Investment Banking group. In his new role, Bunn will work alongside current Head of Investment Banking Dav Mosby to guide day-to-day management and set the long-term strategic direction for all of Investment Banking.

Bunn joined Raymond James in 2009 as part of the firm’s acquisition of boutique firm Lane Berry where he managed the Financial Technology and Technology Services practices. Prior to joining Lane Berry in 2004, Bunn was a member of the Financial Technology Investment Banking team at Salomon Smith Barney/Citigroup, where he began his banking career in 1998.

'Jim is an exceptional manager and banker who is consistently recognized as one of the best in our industry', said Jeff Trocin, president of Global Equities and Investment Banking at Raymond James. 'He led the expansion of the firm’s Technology Services practice and oversaw successive years of substantial growth, demonstrated in 2013 by the highest M&A/advisory revenue of any Investment Banking business unit in the firm’s history'.

'It’s an honor to be selected to help lead the extraordinary group of professionals that comprise the Investment Banking team', said Bunn. 'I’m eager to work with Dav and continue to build upon the strong foundation he has assembled with Jim McDaniel, our former co-head of investment banking and current vice chairman'.

Bunn will be based in the firm’s St. Petersburg, Fla. corporate headquarters.

Also effective 1st January 2014, Jon Steele has been promoted to co-head of the Technology Services group to serve alongside Joe Estes. Steele has a broad range of advisory and capital markets experience with software and services companies and will focus on continuing growth in that practice. Steele also joined Raymond James in 2009 as part of the acquisition of Lane Berry, a firm he helped found in 2002.
