Julio Cesar says his future will be resolved in January.
The Rangers keeper was widely expected to leave Loftus Road in the summer but, despite interest from Wenger and other European clubs including Fiorentina and Napoli, no move came about.
Cesar is now being kept out of the side by Robert Green – himself harbouring England aspirations – and the South American wants out when the window reopens in January.
Cesar told Globo Esporte: “I need to sort out my situation in January. A lot of things will happen. The situation is different now and the QPR chairman is seeing that I am not getting selected by the manager.”
Whether they will still feel they need him is open to debate. Szczesny has kept seven clean sheets in 18 matches this season as Arsenal have soared to the top of the league.
Meanwhile Cesar, who is targeting a place in Brazil’s World Cup squad for next summer, is unlikely to settle for a place on the bench.
That combined with Szczesny’s recent form may make the manager reluctant to try again.
After Arsenal lost to Aston Villa on the opening day of the season, their fans were pleading with the board to sign Cesar. But is that still the case now?
