Arsenal and Spurs target: ‘I’m happy at Lazio’

Hernanes snuffs out rumours of a move to north London.

Serie A star Hernanes says he is happy to remain at Lazio despite interest from both Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal.

The playmaker is on the radar of both north London clubs, with his outstanding performances for the Italian side catching the eye of both Arsene Wenger and Andre Villas-Boas.

However, Lazio’s club president Claudio Lotito this week confirmed that he is to open talks over a new contract for the 28-year-old, who joined the club for £9 million in 2010.

Ligue 1 champions PSG are also interested in Hernanes’s signature, but on Monday the player spoke out and confirmed that he is keen to stay in Italy.

“This is not the time to talk about the market,” he said. “I am good at Lazio. It’s true that in football there are often changes, but now is not the time to think about that.”

Hernanes has scored 37 goals in 132 appearances for Lazio this season.
