Members of the Manchester United team took to Twitter to express their delight with Sunday's 1-0 victory.
Manchester United edged Arsenal by a slender 1-0 winning margin on Sunday, November 10 at Old Trafford, with former Gunner Robin van Persie netting a headded winner on the 27th minute mark.
In a game where United relinqushed the majority of possession to the visitors and were out-struck by 10 attempts to five, it was the hosts who earned maximum points, securing a significant win, moved up to fifth position in the Premier League table and closed the gap to just five points.
Three of United's most high-profile stars remained calm on social media despite the victory over table-topping Arsenal.
Renowned Arsenal fan with a strong social influence Piers Morgan had long wound United players up during the build-up to Sunday's showdown, however, it was defender Rio Ferdinand who had the last laugh, claiming team-mate van Persie 'rubbed his bum on ya chin' with another goal to add to his haul in this re-emerging rivalry with the North Londoners.
Wayne Rooney, meanwhile, thanked the club's supporters for providing a 12th man while Michael Carrick claimed he couldn't sleep, perhaps an allusion to his continued excitement/adrenaline that had carried over from the late afternoon game.
Great win today. Fans were great. Thanks for support.— Wayne Rooney (@WayneRooney) November 10, 2013
