Twitter chat has suggested that a new deal for the forward is in the pipeline, with talks to start next week.
Rooney’s current deal is set to expire in the summer of 2015, making his future a priority for the club this season.
However, take these rumours for what they are, just rumours.
Wayne Rooney's contract talks to start nxt week. i hope Uncle Ed gets his head right this time.— Deacon 'Dolapo (@dollycent) November 11, 2013

There has been nothing official coming out of Manchester United today or from Rooney’s people to confirm the chat, which means they could be fabrication started from nothing.
Rooney has been one of the stand out performers for United so far this season, showing a performance and maturity level in United colours which is arguably greater than it’s ever been since he joined the club from Everton.
He’s a vital component of the current United side under David Moyes and at some point Ed Woodward will have to work his magic and get a new long term deal for the forward done, whether that’s at the start of next week or at the end of the season.
