Former Arsenal, Chelsea and Spurs defender unveiled Down Under

William Gallas has signed for A-League side Perth Glory after being released by Spurs in the summer.

Former Chelsea, Arsenal and Tottenham defender William Gallas has been unveiled in front of the Australian media as a Perth Glory player.

Gallas will become the first Frenchman to play in the A-League and has signed a one year deal with the club.

The 36-year-old was released by Tottenham during the summer and even though he is in the autumn years of his career, he says he hopes he can play until the age of 40.

‘Even if I’m 36, I think I can play more. Some players play until 40, I hope I could play until 40 but I’m ready for that challenge.’

‘When I came here the people were very kind with me. They are different, they are relaxed. It’s different in London, so I like it.’

He has hinted that he would like to play at the club for longer than the duration of his current contract.

I have to convince the club to extend my contract but I have to be good.’

Perth currently sit fourth in the A-League table with eight points from their first five games – four points behind Brisbane Roar who are currently top of the league.

Gallas spent a total of 13 years in the Premier League after signing for Chelsea from Marseille.

He won the Premier League twice along with the League Cup before moving to Arsenal and then to Spurs.

He played 321 matches in the Premier League, scoring 25 goals.
