Rode has recently been linked with a Premier League move, with interest reportedly coming from North London with both Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur thought to be keen on the 23-year-old versatile midfielder.
Rode put in a gusty display as a holding midfielder against Mainz, producing impressive stats in several key areas but he was unable to prevent his side from falling to defeat which saw Frankfurt fail to pull away from the bottom places in the Bundesliga.
Rode made more passes than anyone else, outside the back four, with a passing accuracy of 85% which suggests he was very proactive in terms of trying to move the ball on quickly to the attack.
His long ball stats were also good during the game with eight out of 11 long balls attempted finding their intended target.
Defensively he also did a decent job, making more interceptions during the game than any of his teammates while producing a vital clearance, which released pressure over his side as Mainz went hunting for the second goal.
He also did a decent job in an attacking sense, which is surprising considering he was playing in a predominantly defensive role yesterday.
He played two key passes during the game which led to chances and he was also the joint highest fouled player for Frankfurt, drawing free kicks in key positions which enabled his side to build some pressure over Mainz.
He seems to have more than one angle to his game, which is why reports have suggested a possible fee of around £18 million for any side looking to buy him this winter.
His ability to play as a defensive midfielder or as a direct central midfielder means he gives any side he joins different options although both Arsenal and Tottenham are well stocked in terms of midfield reserves.
He’s a gem in a team which is struggling this season so a move will happen unless Eintracht Frankfurt pull an amazing run of results out of the bag and suddenly fly up the table.
His consistency is just as much a problem for Frankfurt in the respect that they could lose him, as it is a positive in the respect that he’s having a positive impact on the team.
