Tottenham linked with January move for Saints star, AVB rules out selling Defoe

A round up of key news stories about Tottenham Hotspur this morning.

Spurs have been linked with a January move for Southampton star Luke Shaw.

The teenage left-back has been constantly linked with moves away from St Marys throughout his time on the South coast.

The Mirror reports that technical director Franco Baldini is thought to be in favour of launching a move to go after the 18-year-old star.

Tottenham boss Andre Villas-Boas has ruled out selling striker Jermain Defoe.

Defoe has been linked with several moves away from the club including a move back to his old side West Ham, as well as a possible move to play in the MLS.

“No, I don't think so. We are pretty happy with the goals he is producing. He is on nine goals already so it is a great start for him and it doesn't change our perspective regarding his position in the team,” said AVB.

Right-back Kyle Walker has backed Tottenham forward Erik Lamela to turn into a star at the club.

Lamela impressed last week in Tottenham’s Europa League tie against FC Sheriff and Walker is backing him to get stronger.

“He’s very talented but you have to remember it can be very difficult to settle here - When he gets the chance I am sure he can continue to show his ability,” said Walker at a FIFA14 event.
