The highly anticipated local derby proved to be one to forget for Leicester City fans as they had to sit there and watch their side be frustrated by a well-structured Nottingham Forest side that knew how to match their opposition.
Leicester started the stronger of the two sides and playing at home, that was understandable but for their strong start they couldn’t make it count. Nottingham Forest found an edge back into the game, and just as quick as they got back into the game, they managed to find a goal through a rare Simon Cox goal, who found himself 6 yards out and an empty net.
10 minutes later the City Ground side couldn’t believe their luck when another scramble put Jamie Mackie through who smashed a shot in from a short-range and seemingly crumbling Leicester defence couldn’t believe their luck.
The second half was a dull affair until out of nowhere Leicester were awarded a penalty but couldn’t make it count, as David Nugent smashed it well over the bar to appease his former manager Billy Davies.
