Gary Neville plays it straight down the line as a pundit and isn't afraid to tear into his old side United on occasions, as evidenced with criticism of David de Gea last season.
But when it came to putting an Arsenal fan in his place, he didn't have any problem reverting to type - and fronting up £5,000 for the sake of his pride.
He entered a bet with outspoken Piers Morgan over the Manchester United v Arsenal match, with the winner paying to charity.
Robin van Persie's goal in the 1-0 win meant Morgan spent the post-game writing cheques as well as wallowing in defeat.
Top of the League, 5pts clear of United, £5k lighter to @GNev2 . Night all.— Piers Morgan (@piersmorgan) November 10, 2013
It isn't the first time Morgan has had to pay out, but perhaps it wasn't so humiliating as when Samir Nasri cost him £5,000 in 2012.
Morgan taunted him after Nasri's Manchester City lost 1-0 to Arsenal, claiming the Frenchman wouldn't win a trophy before the Gunners.
One month later Nasri and City were Premier League champions, Arsenal are still waiting.
