Trio could boost Manchester United, Welbeck will miss Arsenal game

Manchester United will be confident they can maintain their positive recent record against Arsenal at Old Trafford tomorrow.

Striker Danny Welbeck will play no part in the mega clash against Arsenal, as he continues to recover from a knee problem he picked up in the middle of last month.

“Hopefully, we'll have a few players back. The only one who is not in contention is Danny Welbeck. He's still suffering with his knee,” said United boss David Moyes.

However, Manchester United will be boosted by the news that Michael Carrick could feature against the Gunners. Carrick is one of the most consistent midfielders in the Premier League and is making more interceptions per game than any other player.

Carrick’s fellow midfielder Tom Cleverley is also in line to return to the team for the match.

Defender Jonny Evans should return to the side if Moyes wants to use him in the back four after suffering with a back problem, which he picked up in last weekend’s win against Fulham.

“But hopefully I'll have the other ones in and around the squad. I'll be able to make a decision on [Saturday] once I see how they all are,” added the United boss.

Rafael could also return to the side, taking up his normal position on the right hand side of defence following an ankle problem.

All four players missed the mid-week Champions League match in Spain against Real Sociedad which means they will all be slightly fresher, allowing Moyes the luxury of being able to make several changes to his side if that’s the direction he wants to head in.
