Striker with 10 goals in eight games to be one of two January signings for Liverpool?

A select round-up of morning news relating to Liverpool

As Liverpool prepare to face Fulham this afternoon, the Cottagers’ boss Martin Jol has hailed Luis Suarez as the best penalty box player in the world.

That is quite a statement given some of the competition, but in an interview with the Mirror Jol said, “There is no one better than him in the box.

If he’s in the box with the ball you can’t stop him because he goes through you or he loses the ball or he goes to goal and he scores.”

Jol knows exactly how good the Uruguayan striker is, having managed him at Ajax. And having got the very best out of the player during the pair’s time in Holland, he will be fearful of being on the receiving end today.

I tell them what I know of him. But it’s about my players,” Jol added.

Can they defend what he intends to do? He is off the cuff, quite impulsive. It is not easy to defend against him because he is unpredictable.”

In other news, the same newspaper claims Brendan Rodgers is targeting a January move for two big signings – one of which is mooted as being Olympiakos forward Konstantinos Mitroglou.

The Greece striker is enjoying a superb season, and has already netted two hat-tricks and one brace in a run that has seen him score 10 goals in just eight games.

The 25-year-old is valued at just £6million, and could be a bargain if he continues his fine recent form.
