Liverpool's Reina had agreed Barcelona move

Reina And Liverpool Warm Up

Liverpool's Spanish shot-stopper's dad has claimed that his son had negotiated a transfer to the Liga winners.

Pepe Reina’s father has revealed that the Liverpool man had agreed to sign for Barcelona, only for the deal to fall through.

The Spanish goalkeeper left Anfield over the summer to sign for Napoli on loan until the end of the season.

But Miguel Reina has insisted that there were talks with the Liga giants, only for Victor Valdes to scupper the move.

'My son came to an agreement with the club', he told Minuto 116. 'But in the end Victor Valdes did not leave.

'That’s why the transfer fell through.

A few months ago Pepe was in negotiations with Barca. He came to an agreement with them and had planned to leave'.

Talking about his loan move to Napoli a few weeks back, Reina said:

'There's no reason to think I'll be a Liverpool player from now on but we'll see where the future takes us. It's been a good move so far and I don't regret what happened. I would have preferred to say goodbye in a different way'.
