Ancelotti on why Ozil left Real Madrid, Wenger says RVP is still an Arsenal man

A round up of the key news stories about Arsenal this morning.

Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti has explained why Mesut Ozil left Real Madrid to join Arsenal.

The Italian claims the German midfielder was not willing to fight for his place at the Bernabeu.

“He [Ozil] wasn't comfortable. I knew he'd been speaking with another club because he wanted to leave,” said Ancelotti.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has revealed that he thinks Robin van Persie will always be an Arsenal man.

Van Persie famously left the Gunners to link up with Sir Alex Ferguson at Manchester United, a move that several fans will never forgive him for.

“Of course it's strange because for me he is an Arsenal man. I took him when he was a very, very young player. We have gone together through very difficult periods and he became a world-class player,” said Wenger.

Arsenal will face competition from local rivals Tottenham Hotspur and Italian side Inter Milan for forward Alexandre Pato this winter.

The Gunners have been linked with several strikers as they appear to be keen on adding a forward to compete with and as back up for Olivier Giroud.

Pato’s agent Gilmar Veloz has said everything is in the hands of Pato’s current club Corinthians.
