Manchester United's £35m link returns while former target denies Rooney claims

Sami Khedira

A select round-up of morning news relating to Manchester United

According to the Mirror, Manchester United are considering a £35million bid for Real Madrid midfielder Sami Khedira.

The report claims David Moyes sent Phil Neville to scout the German international during the La Liga side’s 7-3 victory over Sevilla last week.

With United in desperate need of midfield reinforcements, the 26-year-old would be ideal, and expect his name to be a regular in the rumour mill between now and the end of January.

In other news, the Express reports that Aaron Ramsey has hit back at Wayne Rooney’s dismissal of Arsenal’s title chances.

The England striker previously claimed that the Gunners have a habit of faltering after strong beginnings. But the in-form Welshman said, “I don’t think our form has been that bad after Christmas. In the last few seasons, we’ve had to dig in and get loads of points to get fourth place.

If we can keep it going up until Christmas, then we know that we have the ability to compete.”

With Rooney and Ramsey coming face to face on Sunday, expect tensions to be high in a match both sides are desperate to win.

And finally, Aston Villa boss Paul Lambert has compared Gabby Agbonlahor to Ryan Giggs, due to his one-club-man status.

Should the Villa man still be playing at 40, and having the same impact as Giggs has shown, especially in Europe, this season, the Villa fans will not be complaining.
