Goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny now wants Arsenal to make it a perfect week, after the wins against Borussia Dortmund and Liverpool, by beating Manchester United on Sunday at Old Trafford:
‘’We're looking forward to Sunday and we're going to try and make it a perfect week. It would be an amazing week to get nine points out of the three games. Probably not a lot of people expected us to do so. There's not a better time for us to go to Old Trafford, we're confident, we're enjoying our football, so we're looking forward to it."
Juventus have ruled out any potential transfer for Fernando Llorente, leaving Arsenal considering their other options.
It emerged this morning that Arsenal had been in touch with the Bianconeri about a potential deal to bring the Spaniard in on loan from Italy this winter, to act as cover for French marksman Olivier Giroud.
However that idea has now been squashed by Juve general director Giuseppe Marotta:
"The player is not for sale, he has never been for sale, and he remains with us. There is great confidence in the boy, he is reaching top condition. We are very happy with him and with his progress.”
Brendan Rodgers is still banging on about a the decision in the last Premier League game against Arsenal not to allow Liverpool to take a quick free-kick - which ended up with Jordan Henderson tapping the ball into an empty net.
But Martin Atkinson did not allow the kick to be taken quickly, as he wanted to book Bacary Sagna for pulling back Luis Suarez.
"I was given an explanation afterwards and that was it really. Nothing you can do about it now, so it's gone. It was disappointing at the time. I said I thought the referee had a good game but, from that incident, it's something that I said afterwards we were trying to get the flow of the game going and we're trying to stop players rolling about if they get tackled.’’
Get over it Brendan!
