Tottenham boss Andre Villas-Boas has criticised Everton striker Romelu Lukaku after his collision with goalkeeper Hugo Lloris on Sunday.

Villas-Boas has also been surprised by the criticism that he and his staff have received for not substituting Lloris after he was knocked unconscious as a result of the collision.

The Spurs boss said: ‘I want to believe that Lukaku’s leg was not left late to clash into Hugo’s head.

‘I don’t question his integrity. I have maximum respect for him and I like to think he has for me. We had a warm hug. But from all this excitement for something that is so negative I find it surprising no time was lost to carefully study the incident.

‘My medical department has made and followed the Premier League guidelines for this type of situation. That’s the only thing I can tell you.’

Lloris was back in training – without any headgear according to the Evening Standard - and could be considered for the team against FC Sheriff in the Europa League game at White Hart Lane tomorrow night.

Other team news for tomorrow night’s clash includes midfielder Sandro being ruled out because of a hamstring injury he picked up during Sunday’s draw at Everton. Nacher Chadli, Danny Rose and Zeki Fryers are also out.

Andre Villas-Boas said: ‘Danny and Zeki have been making progress and Nacer is already back to a 50% run, so we hope to see him available for selection for the City game.’

Tottenham are being linked with the 19-year-old dubbed the ‘new Neymar’ after it was revealed that Neilton is no closer to signing a new deal with his current club, Santos, according to TalkSport.

Real Madrid and Inter Milan are also reportedly interested in the player.
