13 of our football pundits put their heads together, and each pundit predicted where each Premier League club would finish the season, with 20 points for the club predicted to finish 1st, down to 1 point for the club finishing bottom.
We then added up all the points and:
Verdict - We predicted that Liverpool would finish in 6th
Highest prediction: 5th, Lowest prediction: 8th
Lewis Doe: 5th - Liverpool stand a great chance of competing for fourth place. A lot of people underrate them, but they can play brilliant football and the squad is a lot stronger than it was last season.
Mathew Nash: 5th - Brendan Rodgers is building a tasty looking team this summer, and I personally feel Luis Suarez is going nowhere. With that in mind, they will definitely be in the hunt for a top four slot this season, especially if they bring in a couple of additions in defence. My Evertonian roots prevented me from putting them fourth - but I wouldn't suggest it's impossible.
Key player: Philippe Coutinho
Jamie Allen: 6th - Improving year on year, but a steady season sees the Reds inch closer to a coveted Champions League place
Ian Bolland: 6th - Losing Luis Suarez will be a real blow to The Reds Champions League ambitions, but they have added some youth to their side which should see them finish in the top six.
Dan Coombs: 6th - After two seasons finishing below their Merseyside rivals, this year Liverpool will get one over on Everton. Luis Suarez, if he stays, will be crucial - but they are still two top class players away from breaking into the top four.
Vic Daniels: 6th - Liverpool will run Arsenal close, and will get some good results against fellow top 6 teams - but dropped points against the also-rans will cost them.
Jenny Leigh: 6th - Rodgers has bought well and that’ll undoubtedly help, but the Reds still have a young squad and lack world-class quality at present. If Suarez stays, that’ll be a huge boost, but I think they’ll be the nearly-men again.
Gareth McKnight: 6th - Liverpool should continue their progression under Brendan Rodgers, and if their new players can bed in quickly, they could in the mix for top four. I don’t think they will get there, though, but they will push the likes of Spurs in fifth.
Vincent Ralph: 6th - Will an unhappy Luis Suarez be as prolific as a happy one ? That's the question should Liverpool keep hold of their controversial striker. While Brendan Rodgers impressed with his early summer transfer business, it's all gone rather quiet in recent weeks. A new striker, a goal-scoring midfielder and a defender, and they will have an impressive squad - the star of which will surely be Philippe Coutinho.
Callum Farrell: 7th - Although Brendan Rodgers has stabilised Liverpool and started to develop an attractive style of play, I feel they have fallen behind their rivals this summer in terms of transfer activity. Perhaps another season before the squad really begins to flourish.
Graham Morris: 7th - Trouble with Suarez and Gerrard another year older says Liverpool to finish no better than 7th.
Alan Dawson: 8th - If not a Gooner then it's clear Suarez is a goner. Without him, the Reds will struggle. Brendan Rodgers didn't mess about at the start of the window, but has yet to add to his squad since then. Liverpool need to get off to a good start, otherwise they might slip into mid-table mediocrity.
Nick Harris: 8th - Liverpool have been active this summer, but they have not necessarily bought players who can improve their side enough to challenge for a Champions League place. If Philippe Coutinho and Daniel Sturridge play at their best throughout the season, they might do well, but they could be overtaken by other improving sides.
Liverpool are currently in 3rd position in the Premier League (level on points with 2nd place Chelsea). They have surprised many neutrals this season so far.
