A former player has spoken out over how the club can pick themselves up after Premier League defeat last weekend.
Losing 2-0 to Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium is 'no disgrace', according to former Liverpool defender and current media pundit Jamie Carragher, as Arsene Wenger's Gunners are 'the best team in the league at the moment'.
Liverpool came unstuck due to goals via Santi Cazorla and Aaron Ramsey either side of half-time. For much of the game, Liverpool relinquished possession and advantage to Arsenal who, on the course of play, were deserved winners.
The defeat, Liverpool's second of the Premier League season, should not concern manager Brendan Rodgers though, as Carra moves on to mention that the club remain on course for their primary target set prior to the campaign's genesis - to consolidate a top four position.
Speaking to the club's official website, Carragher explained: 'Manchester City have lost some games - Cardiff and Aston Villa away. Then you look at Manchester United, who lost to West Brom at home, and Liverpool had the loss to Southampton. To lose to Arsenal away, who are the best team in the league at the moment, is no disgrace - it's disappointing but we should not get too despondent.
'You move on,' he added. '[Liverpool have] got Fulham at home [next] and you'd expect them to win that game - and if they do, they'll go into the international break in a great position. Arsenal have got to go to United, so someone is going to lose points, so you'd expect Liverpool to be even closer to the top after the weekend.'
