A round up of key news stories about Liverpool from the past 24 hours.
Liverpool forward Luis Suarez has warned the rest of the Premier League that the best is yet to come from Brendan Rodgers’ team. Liverpool have been one of the early pace setters and find themselves five points off the lead in the league.
“We're doing well right now but we need to carry on that form into the Christmas period. I think our best is yet to come, which hopefully means well for the end of the season and our chances of making next season's Champions League. That's one of our aims,” he told Match.
Liverpool have been linked with a move for Newcastle United midfielder Yohan Cabaye. News broke earlier this week that Cabaye was a target for AS Roma and now Liverpool have been added to the growing list of clubs reportedly monitoring him.
In another transfer story, Liverpool will reportedly match a €14 million asking price for Juan Iturbe. The 20-year-old is currently on loan away from FC Porto with Italian club Verona and the Sun has claimed that Brendan Rodgers will try and snap him up next summer.
Mohamed Salah is another player that Liverpool remain firmly linked with. The 21-year-old forward is another alternative transfer target that the Reds are being linked with a possible move for this January.
One player who could be leaving the club is youngster John Flanagan who’s admitted that a loan move might do him some good. Flanagan started in the defeat to Arsenal last weekend and has said he’s open to a loan move away from the club if he’s not going to get another chance.
Liverpool legend Dietmar Hamann has defended Luis Suarez while attacking Manchester United’s Ashley Young. The German suggests Young’s diving is worse than Suarez’ has ever been.
“If you remember the stick Luis Suarez got, he’s cut it [diving] out of his game, but Ashley Young is much worse than Suarez has ever been,” he told TalkSport.
Liverpool goalkeeper Pepe Reina says he feels as though he played for two different Liverpools. Reina was sent on loan to Napoli in Serie A after the club bought Simon Mignolet last summer.
“I've been given the feeling that I have played in two different Liverpools. One very competitive fighting for important things and among the best, and one that, overnight, sold the club to new owner,” Reina told Minuto 116.
Sticking with Napoli, the club have now been linked with a move for central defender Daniel Agger. The Serie A side were previously linked with Martin Skrtel but have apparently changed their line of attack despite a recent admission for Agger that he wasn’t looking to leave the club.
Liverpool fans are purring over on loan midfielder Suso. The Spaniard is currently on loan in La Liga with Almeria where he’s produced a stunning record of five assists in 11 games for the club so far this season.
