Revealed: Moyes packs Ferguson's autobiography for trip to Spain

Manchester United manager caught with Sir Alex Ferguson's bestseller in his luggage ahead of Real Sociedad Champions League match

Much has been made of Sir Alex Ferguson's recent autobiography. It has housed various criticisms of ex, and more damagingly, present players.

Many would even say that its release has proved a most unwelcome distraction from the new Manchester United manager's bedding in period.

After a public backing by the retiring Ferguson at the end of the final home game of last season, the incoming Scotsman may have hoped that his outgoing countryman would have helped the difficult transition go as smooth as possible.

This has not been the case though. As Ferguson's book hit the bookshops and newspapers, Moyes' United stuttered their way through the first few games of the season. Cruel onlookers joked that the present management team could have done with taking a few tips from the pages on what has now become Britain's fastest selling non-fiction.

When quizzed on his predecessor's publication and whether he'd dip into it, Moyes claimed to have little time at his new club, indicating he'll have a flick through when he could.

Ahead of his club's Champions League match in Sociedad tonight, photographers spotted Moyes packing a rather familiar item in his luggage as he passed through Manchester airport.

Like many Brits heading to Spain, albeit on business rather than pleasure, it seems that the United boss has packed what promises to be a good read. The Manchester club's recent improvement in form should mean scouring its pages for advice shouldn't be necessary.

But, if things don't go to plan at the Anoeta stadium tonight, we'll keep an eye out for a familiar face from the bench.
