BMO Capital Markets has appointed Michael Gregory as Deputy Chief Economist and Head of U.S. Economics, effective November 4, 2013. Gregory will be based in Chicago and report to Doug Porter, Chief Economist, BMO Capital Markets.

Gregory will be responsible for increasing the exposure of BMO's economic research in the U.S. while also providing research to U.S. dollar-focused clients around the world. He will also provide dedicated support for the U.S. Fixed Income business, and work to coordinate BMO Economics' efforts with those of the Global Fixed Income Strategy team, headed by Margaret Kerins.

'Michael has provided timely, in-depth analysis and commentary to BMO clients and stakeholders for over a decade', said Porter. 'As we continue to expand the scope of our North American research, mirroring BMO's growing footprint in the U.S., Michael will play an important role in driving coverage with on-the-ground insights. This appointment marks another major achievement in Michael's career, and I congratulate him on the new role'.

Gregory joined BMO in 2001 to head its Financial Services Analysis Team, focusing on regulatory and industry restructuring issues. He joined BMO Capital Markets Economics in 2004.

Gregory is a graduate of Concordia University in Montreal and the University of Western Ontario in London, and did doctoral studies at Fordham University in New York. He also holds a Chartered Financial Analyst designation.
