The Anfield target found the net in sublime style for Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk.

Yevhen Konoplyanka strengthened his case for an imminent move to the Premier League this weekend, after finding the net in style for Dnipro in the Ukrainian Premier League.

The 24-year-old has been the subject of intense transfer speculation over the last few months, with a host of English top-flight sides believed to be interested in securing his services in the near future.

Liverpool are believed to head up this list of potential suitors, with manager Brendan Rodger’s previously sounding out the Ukrainian’s current employers over the summer, with a view to launching a big money bid to bring the forward to Anfield.

And on a cold afternoon at the Stadion Metalurh in Donetsk, he showed the Reds exactly what they were missing out on in a virtuoso performance that included a memorable goal for the Ukraine international, who has already amassed eight strikes in just 33 appearances for the national side.

The Merseysiders looked bereft of attacking invention during their 2-0 defeat to Arsenal at the Emirates last time out and with Iago Aspas likely to move out on loan in the January transfer window, the addition of Konoplyanka to a thin playing squad would be most welcome.

But with the Kirovohrad-born player putting in eye-catching displays on the domestic front, it looks likely that Liverpool will face plenty of competition in their quest to sign the player, with Dinamo Moscow one of a number of alternative options available to the winger.

At the very least though, the attacker looks likely to move on from current club Dnipro and given the competitive wages and more glamourous locations on offer, he would most likely favour a move to the English top flight.

Any deal could ultimately hinge on playing time, with Konoplyanka keen to ensure he features as much as possible at club level with the Ukraine still in the hunt for a place at next summer’s World Cup.
