Manchester United defender says Arsenal played 'playground football' v Liverpool

Rio Ferdinand United

Rio Ferdinand has been hailing the performance of his Premier League rivals once again.

Arsenal really were something last night. Despite looking fragile early on, a goal from Santi Cazorla provided them with the confidence to play their wonderful brand of football, and the result was put out of doubt with a wonderful effort from Aaron Ramsey.

Throughout the game, as much as Arsenal’s terrific defence deserves credit, they were also superb going forward.

Santi Cazorla, Mesut Ozil, Olivier Giroud and Aaron Ramsey were knocking the ball around with little one-two passing and round the corner runs - it was at times wonderful to watch, similar in fact to their Champions League opponents on Wednesday night Borussia Dortmund.

There was certainly a period in the second-half where it looked like an exhibition match from the Gunners.

And the sheer class of their performance had one title rival purring on Twitter, Rio Ferdinand.

Now this isn’t the first time the former England international has been fairly positive in his appraisal of an Arsenal team trying to claw away Manchester United’s title from them this season. He was very impressed with their performance against Norwich City earlier this month, calling the team 'sensational' and suggesting Jack Wilshere's goal was 'total football' and the Liverpool performance did much the same - as he called it ‘playground football’ from The Gunners:

Perhaps Rio is starting to take Arsenal’s title chances seriously now, just like the rest of us.
