Second place in the Premier League is up for grabs for the winners of today’s match at Goodison Park.
Everton and Tottenham – currently in seventh and sixth-place respectively – will see Chelsea and Liverpool’s defeats as the ideal opportunity to climb above them. But first they have to navigate the difficult proposition of overcoming each other.
Tottenham are likely to recall a number of players who sat out last week’s League Cup match against Hull City, while the Toffees are definitely without striker Arouna Kone and long-term absentee Darron Gibson.
Recent history does not favour Andre Villas-Boas’s side, with Spurs winning only two of their last 12 Premier League games against Everton, and they have not one at Goodison Park in their last six visits.
Given that Roberto Martinez’s side are unbeaten at home so far this season, it will take an almighty efforts from the Lillywhites to beat them this afternoon.
What do you think today’s result will be?
