Javier Hernandez has re-tweeted a story United fans will hope is more a nudge to the manager than a glimpse of the future.
After his late strike against Stoke City rescued Manchester United last weekend and his brace against Norwich set the champions on their way to a 4-0 League Cup victory in midweek, Javier Hernandez found himself back on the bench for yesterday’s match against Fulham.
A glut of necessary half-time changes meant the Mexican sharpshooter spent his Saturday afternoon watching from the bench. And despite previously stating his desire to do his talking on the pitch, he has today re-tweeted a story from Sky Sports, hinting that he could move on if he is continued to use sporadically.
The story includes quotes from Carlos Vela, a good friend of Hernandez and a player United will meet again next week in the Champions League.
“If he plays regularly he will score,” Vela said of his compatriot, “so I don’t totally understand why a player of his quality has not played more games.
“If he doesn’t play regularly he will need to think about leaving.”
Perhaps Hernandez merely re-tweeted it because it was an interview with his friend. But then again…perhaps unable to do his talking on the pitch this weekend, he allowed his feelings to be conveyed by promoting the thoughts of another.
