Chelsea wonderkid to be fast-tracked by Mourinho

Jose Mourinho Chelsea

Chelsea's on loan sensation Patrick Bamford is set to step up a level.

We reported last month on Patrick Bamford's superb form on loan at MK Dons, and it appears Jose Mourinho is also very impressed.

The Mirror report that Chelsea want to recall the 20-year-old from the League One side, and send him out on loan to a Championship club.

The striker has 12 goals in 19 games this season for MK Dons, and losing him would be a terrible blow for their promotion objectives with manager Karl Robinson previously describing Bamford as his 'number one' summer transfer objective after agreeing the loan deal.

Making such a move would be a clear indication of Jose Mourinho and Chelsea's faith in the youngster's ability, and an illustration to loan sides that they are being used as much as they are using the big clubs themselves; MK Dons - the losers in this scenario, may have to grit their teeth and take the blow, and just be happy they got to use the striker for half a season.

For Bamford it is very exciting, for he has already shown his value at League One level, and it could be argued Chelsea and he would learn nothing more than leaving him there for the rest of the season, better to test him at a higher level instead.

At a Championship club, Bamford can raise his profile and start thinking about the Chelsea senior squad if he is successful.

Picking the right club will be essential, but if the youngster can find a promotion chasing side where he is likely to get regular action, then he can make a real name for himself.

It is unlikely however much success he has, that Bamford will find himself in the Chelsea team next season, but if he makes a move he could get a chance on the club's pre-season tour and even move up another level, and be loaned out to a Premier League club in 2014/15.

If he stays at MK Dons the rest of the season, it's unlikely that will even be a possibility, which is why he should take the risk and step up if his club dictate so.
