The European champions are being linked with a move for Sergio Aguero in the British media, with Pep Guardiola believed to be a long-term admirer.
Reports in the British media today are suggesting that European champions Bayern Munich are ready to turn their transfer attentions to Sergio Aguero next summer.
The Bundesliga giants are thought to be in the market for a new striker, and have supposedly earmarked the Manchester City forward as the man they want to bring to the Allianz Arena.
The Argentina international has been an overwhelming success since moving to the Etihad Stadium in the summer of 2011, and as such has been linked with repeated moves to other big European clubs.
Real Madrid have been a reported suitor for quite some time, but it appears that Bayern are now ready to enter the race to pry the South American away from Manuel Pellegrini’s side.
Bayern boss Pep Guardiola is thought to be a big admirer of Aguero after his time in Spain, and is ready to launch a £40 million proposal next summer to bring the ex-Atletico Madrid man to Germany.
It has even been stated in media sources that Bayern will try to sign Robert Lewandowski from Borussia Dortmund on a free transfer when his contract expires next summer, and will offer the Pole as part of the deal to bring Aguero to Germany.
City are thought to be keen to bring the Polish hitman to Manchester and Bayern believe that a player-plus-cash deal could convince the English side to part with Aguero.
There are a lot of ifs and buts with the report, and the Argentina international has stated in the past that he is happy at City. The club’s ability to fight for major honours this season could well dictate whether the players is still settled by the end of the season however.
Bayern’s reported interest in Aguero should come as no shock, as the versatile South American attacker has been in sparkling form of late.
Aguero scored in City’s 7-0 rout over Norwich on Saturday, and has formed a formidable strike partnership with Alvaro Negredo. The South American is City’s top goalscorer this season with eight Premier League goals in nine games and is currently the division’s joint top scorer with Daniel Sturridge.
City surely would not sell him, but could Aguero be tempted with a switch to the Bavarian powerhouses?
