Allegri wins stay of execution

AC Milan

The Milan Channel indicates that AC Milan boss Massimiliano Allegri will keep his job for the time being despite last night's loss to Fiorentina.

Despite growing pressure, reports from the Milan Channel indicate that Max Allegri will remain AC Milan coach after a meeting today between Adriano Galliani and Silvio Berlusconi.

It has been a wretched start to the season for Milan and the Italian media believed that embattled tactician Allegri had been given games against Lazio, Fiorentina and Barcelona to turn things around.

The Rossoneri threw away a 1-0 lead to draw with Lazio and then fell 2-0 to Fiorentina yesterday evening at San Siro.

Losing to the Viola was a massive blow to Milan and many felt it would be the final straw for their coach but it seems that for now Allegri will keep his job.

The Milan Channel claims that a long telephone conversation between Milan owner Berlusconi and Vice President Galliani resulted in Allegri being given a little more time.

While Milan are not expected to beat Barcelona in the Champions League, they must put in a good performance and then cannot slip up against bottom side Chievo on Sunday.

"The spirit is right and the enthusiasm is there to get out of this difficult time," the Milan Channel reported.

"Difficult years can happen in sport. Roma are top now but haven't been in the Champions League for three years, Napoli weren't in the Champions League last year and Inter finished ninth."
