Verona's rising star Jorginho is turning heads with his performances in Serie A and reports that Chelsea are interested in his signature have been backed up by the presence of a scout at the Stadio Bentegodi.
The Gialloblu have exceeded all expectations and a win over Sampdoria in midweek maintained a perfect home record.
Brazilian midfielder Jorginho was the stand-out player of Verona's Serie B promotion campaign last term and has continued his form on the bigger stage of Serie A.
There have been repeated reports in Italy that a host of top European clubs are watching Jorginho's progress with interest, but it seems that Chelsea are amongst the leaders in the race for his signature after they sent a scout to watch him in action against Sampdoria.
Reports from Sky Sport suggest that a representative from Chelsea was in the stands but was joined by a scout from Spanish side Sevilla, who have also been linked with a swoop.
While Chelsea may be confident of outbidding most of those clubs, Inter's new owner Erick Thohir is expected to invest a significant sum of money on reinforcements this winter and it remains to be seen how deep his pockets are.
Despite the frenzied speculation, Verona remain adamant that Jorginho won't be leaving the club in January, but it is widely believed that the Scaligeri have resigned themselves to losing him at the end of the season.
