Arsenal have stretched their lead at the top of the Premier League table with a confident and impressive performance against their rivals Liverpool.
‘Nervous November’ is how this month has become to be known at the North London club - but they showed no signs of it here in an exciting game, in which Liverpool themselves certainly played their part.
Liverpool were on top early on, but the mood suddenly changed after a quick Arsenal breakaway. Bacary Sagna marauded down the right flank before delivering the ball to the far-post, where Santi Cazorla was arriving. His initial effort, a powerful header, cannoned off the post and came back into his celebration path - when he then smashed in a half volley for 1-0.
Arsenal then took over the proceedings knocking the ball around with ease on the carpet like turf at The Emirates.
Liverpool did have their chances, especially Luis Suarez, but they found Wojciech Szczesny in inspired form.
Aaron Ramsey then produced a party-piece to wrap things up. He took control of a half volley on the edge of the box, and smashed home a powerful half volley beyond the helpless dive of Simon Mignolet.
It could have been more, as Arsenal continued to push for a comfortable victory - but in the end the score remained 2-0 as Arsenal go five points clear of nearest rivals Chelsea.
