Chelsea have one of the best youth team setups in the country and one of the first things Jose Mourinho said when he took over for his second spell in charge, is that he would be looking to use younger players on a more frequent basis.
Under-16 star Mukhtar Ali is a little too young to be anywhere near the first team fringes at the moment but the teenager is already creating a big reputation for himself in the Chelsea youth system.
He’s got plenty of opportunity to play football in the Chelsea youth system with competitive football available via the under-19 Premier Academy League, the under-19 UEFA Youth League and the under-21 Premier League.
Ali was a key part of the Chelsea under-16 side that won the International Youth Tournament last weekend, with a solid 2-0 win against Real Madrid in the final of the competition.
He opened the scoring in that game with what can only be described as a blinding goal and a superb piece of intelligence in a difficult position. Had his free kick gone wrong, he’d have looked ever so slightly silly.
Take a look.
What do you make of that effort Chelsea fans?
